about

This two song musical journey began as a live performance, December 2016 at Spektrum Berlin. Centered around a more experimental venue and audience, Planetary Cymatic Resonance tuned into and channeled their own arcane experiences spawned by the dark cold December meteorological conditions and planetary alignment.

Tun

This first piece of their electronic live set is based on the octave transpositions of a fundamental cycle of the Mayan calendar. This cycle is called the TUN. It is 360 days long and also called the spiritual year as it is not entirely based off of astronomy. According to Carl J. Calleman, PhD this is one of the two factors of the Mayan Galactic Underworld (8th Underworld)(1).

This track’s fundamental frequency is matching the TUN in its 32nd octave and equals the root note of C# at 138.08Hz. All other time based parameters, such as tempo (129.45BPM), delay and reverb computations are also derived from octaves of this frequency.

JUPITER

This second piece utilizes the octave transpositions of Jupiter’s sideric movement around the sun. It takes the biggest planet of our solar system approximately 4332.588 days to return to the same point in its orbit(1).

The fundamental frequency matching Jupiter’s rotation period in its 36th octave equals the root note of F# at 183.58Hz. All other time based parameters, such as tempo (86.05BPM), delay and reverb computations are also derived also from octaves of this astronomical frequency.

Planetary Cymatic Resonance is a project based on tunings calculated from natural frequencies found in our universe like the movement of planets or the resonances of molecules. P-C-R's music is a synthesis between musical expression, scientific calculation, modern technology and ancient wisdom. ... more
